Midweek Reset – October 19

Phew finally Wednesday! (Or, phew, Wednesday already if that’s how you’re feeling).
I was back in the classroom this week with tiny 6 and 7 year olds so it’s definitely time for a mid-week reset. Since I’m spending more time in schools these days, this article about the importance of learning through play is a good reminder, and should perhaps be shared broadly with Canada’s education professionals! The key takeaway: Fewer worksheets, more making forts.
It’s been getting chillier so my constantly-cold self has been coveting anything that looks warm, including these half-zip sweatshirts made in Canada.
Even though it’s truly pumpkin season (and I love a good pumpkin dessert) I thought this chocolate espresso bundt cake might not be a bad idea either.

Since we’re working up to feeling cozy here in Atlantic Canada (cue the hygge), I’m pulling out the candles. New Scotland Candle Co. are based right here in Nova Scotia, and you really can’t go wrong with any of their scents (the limited edition ones are also lovely, but you have to move fast!).
I’m always sort of house hunting, and recently I’ve been viewing more historic houses. I love the look of what’s been done with this one – the pale yellow, the window trim, and the arbour over the front door.
In less than a month, I’ll be heading to the UK. My Pinterest board is full of suggestions for England, but this lovely itinerary for Brighton is catching my eye.
